Rich was an original member of the NsHL family as he managed the San Jose Sharks in '03. He took the team to the Cup Finals in his first season and had to resign due to personal reasons. The year after he resigned, the Sharks won the NsHL Cup. He was hired by the New York Rangers in '05 and gave them their first playoff birth in team history. The Rangers won the Eastern Conference title in 07-08.

Dave joined the NsHL in 2005 and took over an Atlanta team that was in disarray. Since that time, 'Cherni' has effectively built the team through the draft and by means of trades to bring star players into the fold. Dave is a member of the Board of Governors and takes pride in being an active GM. He has a great relationship with the NsHL media and consistently posts on the NsHL forum. Dave holds an NsHL record for traveling the furthest to the NsHL Entry Draft (2602 miles) which is held in Beaver, Pa. Dave has a daughter Payton and is a finance manager for a car dealership.
