Timeline of Events
Re-rates (done by ratings Committee) Will be posted sometime after the playoffs have ended and before the Entry Draft.
Entry Draft-Draft will consist of 7 rounds with the order deteremined by a lottery (non-playoff teams).  The draft will be on a Saturday and Sunday.  Teams are encouraged to attend. (July 19th and 20th, 2008) Trading will begin a few weeks before the draft.
RFA OFFER PERIOD-This is the period of time when GMs either tender their group II FA's an offer, release them, or sign them to an extension.  See your NsHLPA Agent for furthur information/details. (September 8th)
RFA/UFA Deadline- All 'tendered' Group II  free agents and all non-tendered Restricted Free Agents become Group IV FA's and are available to be bid on. Compensatory picks for all UFA's lost will be given at this time. Teams can begin bidding on RFA's and UFA's. *Remember the compensation necessary for signing an RFA (see table in Constitution)  This is very similar to the NHL's JULY 1st DEADLINE-(SEPT 6th) 
Arbitration Hearings on all eligible Group II Free Agents who's agents select it. ALL RFA signings/bids and Arbitration Hearings will last a week
(October 4th)
Pre-season begins-Pre-season will last two weeks prior to the start of the regular season.  Teams rosters are expanded at this time.  Each team will play 8 games (4 home and 4 away). Preseason begins NOVEMBER 13th 
Regular Season begins November 25th, 2007.
Playoffs begin after the regular season has been completed.  Top 8 teams in each conference are eligible.
